WEST MICHIGAN SOCCER OFFICIALS ASSOCIATION
The West Michigan Soccer Officials Association promotes soccer, maintains a high standard of refereeing, encourages fair play and sportsmanship, and makes available an adequate number of well-trained and capable referees.
Who is WMSOA?
The West Michigan Soccer Officials Association (WMSOA) is an organization of Metro Grand Rapids and Lakeshore Area Soccer Officials. It is one of two official Michigan chapters of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) and is also the local organization representing Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSSA). Our members include USSF, NISOA, ECSR, and MHSAA officials.
Purpose
A. To promote the welfare of the game of soccer, its players and officials, wherever soccer is played, and in West Michigan particularly.
B. To maintain the highest standard of soccer officiating.
C. To encourage the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship.
D. To have available, at all times, an adequate number of qualified officials.
E. To cooperate with colleges, universities, and high schools officially related to the game of soccer, with the goal of furthering soccer’s interest and ideals.
Joining WMSOA
WMSOA membership is open to all interested soccer officials. All members in good standing receive the association newsletter, an opportunity to attend training clinics, and are eligible to receive college and high school game assignments, provided they are certified by the appropriate organizations. Annual Dues: $45
Affiliations
WMSOA is the local (West Michigan) chapter of the National Intercollegiate Soccer Officials Association (NISOA) and also a local organization of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA).
What does WMSOA do?
WMSOA provides instruction as well as written and physical testing opportunities for its members to gain and maintain certifications with NISOA and MHSAA. The organization provides high school and college game assignments for referees, many yearly clinics, and a fall and spring Cracker Barrel meeting to discuss current rule changes, policy changes, as well as to get member's input. In order to officiate in NISOA and MHSAA, you must be a member of WMSOA.

The executive board has several meetings during the year. The meetings are open to our members. To schedule a time to address the board at one of the meetings please contact the president.
